Who She Was: A Waltmarie

Written for Reena’s Xploration Challenge;
the image shown below with its caption was
my inspiration. Here’s where the prompt took me.

“In the outline, she found silence.”
Image from Reena’s Xploration Challenge

In the outline, she found silence
glass cold
tracing the ghost of who she was before
light bends
a woman reaching for her own reflection
hands press
the mirror holds what memory refuses
breath stills
she stands inside the shape of her recollection
she knows.

Nancy’s Notes: the Waltmarie poetic form consists of 10 lines. Even lines are two syllables in length, odd lines are longer with no specific syllable count. Even lines make their own mini-poem if read separately.

This is “Girl In The Mirror” by Megan Moroney
