Written for MLMM Monday Wordle;
Di’s prompt words are shown here:
habit, life, charm, thorough, chart, cast,
memory, settle, wary, amuse, fist, carry
Light-hearted jab at my hubby; he’ll forgive me.

My husband has a fishing habit,
The kind that swallows up a life;
He’ll chart the tides, the ebbs and flows
While dodging chores (and me, his wife).
He’ll cast his line with practiced charm,
Then settle in the captain’s chair
To wait for the fish, who, being wary,
Would rather not be caught out there.
Small things amuse him: one quick nibble,
A bobbing float, a passing breeze.
He’ll carry home an empty cooler
And call it “catch and release.”
His memory is a stretchy thing:
The “big one” grows each time he speaks.
At first it matched the size of his fist;
Now it’s a whale. Just give it two weeks.
