Where The River Turns To Gold

Written for Sadje’s What Do You See

The sky forgets it’s only sky
and burns instead like your soft sigh,
while one palm leans, as lovers do,
to steal a kiss, hidden from view.

I’ve loved you slow, like dusk unfolds,
in shades of amber, rust, and gold….
each color bleeding into new,
the way my heart bleeds into you.

A canoe for two will not roam,
content to rest so near to home,
as if it knows, the way I’ve known,
some hearts aren’t meant to be alo
ne.

So take my hand as colors fade,
let’s be the promise twilight made….

two shadows merging into one,
still burning
long after the sun.
