    1. Jill sure gave us a great inspiration this week Ernie. I immediately saw ZZ Top in that photo and knew I had to write about Dusty. Their blues song fit right into the theme. Thanks for your enthusiastic comments, Dawg! 🐶

  1. I was hoping someone would go there. I immediately saw Dusty even back in 2018. I mean I knew from the theme it was Rip van Winkle but yeah ha ha fun times I tell you what. Perfect song too.

  2. What a moving way to honor him, Nancy, that image of the moss-covered topiary standing in for Dusty’s beard and hat is such a clever visual echo, and pairing it with “Certified Blues” rather than one of the bigger radio hits feels just right. It’s a quieter tribute than “Sharp Dressed Man” would’ve given, but somehow that suits the moment better. Lovely piece. 🎸

  3. Dusty Hill certainly was an integral part of ZZ Top. I also love you picked on of their early songs. While ’80s songs like “Sharp Dressed Man” and “Gimme All Your Lovin'” are fun, musically, the first three ZZ Top albums are their best. 😎
