From below, the blast fills the silk lung; above, a gray sky waits for fire.
Shadows watch from the damp earth; giant lanterns lift toward the cold dawn.

Nancy’s Notes: An American Sentence is a form developed by Allen Ginsberg. It has one rule: 17 syllables in one line. There may be multiple lines, as long as each line consists of 17 syllables. Like the Haiku, it should be concise and include a turn or enlightenment.
