In Autumn

Written for Living Poetry. Bartholomew
asks us to write an autumn poem, using
the words “autumn”, “bright”, and
“island” and this image for inspiration.

The crimson forest bends to greet the shore,
Mirroring a bright and amber glow,
As autumn paints the island evermore,
In quiet ripples drifting soft and slow.

  1. The image of the crimson forest mirroring an amber glow across quiet ripples is so serene! Pairing it with Eric Clapton’s ‘Autumn Leaves’ makes reading it such a peaceful, atmospheric experience. Beautiful response to the prompt, Nancy!
