Desperate Breath

The heavy oak door groaned as Jeremy pulled it shut, trapping him inside the dark dank cellar. In those agonizing moments, the temperature plummeted, frosting his desperate breath. A guttural rasp echoed from the darkness…. the hideous bugbear had finally tracked him down. Twin crimson eyes ignited above him, illuminating rows of jagged teeth dripping with malice. Trembling, Jeremy pressed back against the crates, realizing too late that his childhood nightmare had become his reality.
