Memories Of The Heart: A Haiku

Written for Haiku Fridays with J-Dub
where Jill challenges us to write our
haiku using this image as inspiration.

the golden light glows
paper dress of broken days
memories return

sitting by the stream
woven baskets on the stone
echoes of the past

pine trees stand up tall
soft wind blows through braided hair
quiet footsteps fall

Nancy’s Notes: Jill’s image shows a contemporary paper sculpture titled Childhood (2004) by the Native American artist C. Maxx Stevens, who belongs to the Seminole and Muscogee Nations of Oklahoma. The piece is on display at the Minneapolis Institute of Art (Mia).
