Written for Open Link Night & dVerse LIVE
where our host, Lillian, has given us options;
I’ve chosen to write a poem that mentions
at least 3 different colors. Also written for
Day 6 of Sammi’s 13 Days of Samhain and
the words “dangerously” & “darksome”.

The veil grows thin as autumn dies,
Beneath the darksome, heavy skies.
The bonfire burns a vibrant red,
To guide the footsteps of the dead.
Upon the altar, apples gleam,
Like crimson drops within a dream.
And through the woods the shadows crawl,
While golden leaves begin to fall.
A silver mist slowly starts to rise,
Concealing tricks and warped surprise.
The phantom winds begin to sigh,
As dangerously close they fly.
The harvest ends but spirits thread,
Where living feet now fear to tread.
The ancient night has just begun,
Beneath the black and dying sun.
