Written for RDP, where Martha asks us
to get creative with the word “rigamarole”.
Thanks, Martha! Here’s where the prompt took me.

Yesterday I met with the hand surgeon; he was pleased with my healing and cleared me for physical therapy starting today. He also spoke to the therapist who will make a smaller, custom-fit splint for me. I can’t wait to get my hand moving again and to be rid of the ginormous splint I’ve been in for the past month. I hope the new one is simpler with fewer straps to do and undo. I’m tired of all this rigamarole and ready to get back to my normal life. It’s been 11 months since the injury that started all this. Enough!

This is “Simple Man” by Lynyrd Skynyrd
Everything on The Elephant’s Trunk was created by me, unless otherwise indicated. Thanks for your consideration. NAR©2017-present.

That’s a great step forward. I wish you well in your continued recovery.

After all these years I always thought it was rigmarole (that’s how we Brits pronounce it), not rigamarole!

Both spellings are acceptable, however, rigmarole is the more traditional and rigamarole a widely accepted alternative spelling. Isn’t it nice to know we’re both right? Thanks, Glyn! 😊

Glad you like the music, Ange; I do too! Thanks for your good wishes …. that really means a lot to me. ☺️ I’m home from therapy and I made it through in one piece! We’re taking it very slowly this time. ❤️

Good deal for the next step in the healing of your wrist. Rigamaroles are so not fun, but it is a really fun word to say. 🙂

It really has, Jim. It’s been frustrating physically, emotionally, and psychologically for both me and Bill who has done everything for me since the beginning. The man is exhausted (but never complained) and I desperately want my independence, for my sake as well as his. I really think if anything goes wrong during PT, I’m going to learn to live with it. I am cautiously, optimistic, even if it doesn’t sound like it. Thank you, my friend.

Computer problems for me today and I am on my laptop instead of my desktop.

Don’t let that therapist hurt your hand this time–slap him with your good one! Three cheers for getting back to normal.

The prescription is to take it s-l-o-w and easy. I’ll gladly go to PT for as long as it takes than go through this again. Guaranteed, I will bark at the first inkling of pain! Thanks very much, Lois.
