Our gracious host, Rochelle, is asking us to get
creative in 100 words or less using the photo
seen below. This is Friday Fictioneers.

Beneath a bruised, ash-streaked sky, the dying sun bled amber over the sleepy cul-de-sac. The festival of Samhain had begun, thinning the veil between worlds.
In the long shadow of the quiet suburban neighborhood, a coven of witches gathered, stoking red-hot embers under an ancient copper cauldron. Smoke tangled with the twilight as ravenous creatures clawed their way out from beneath the parked cars. Pale ghouls clicked their jagged teeth, drawn to the rising magic. The eldest witch whispered an ancient chant, lifting her hands as the neighborhood lights stuttered and died. Tonight, the unsuspecting suburbs belonged to the darkness.
