Written for Tanka Tuesday where our host,
Willow, asks us to write a Celtic Autumn poem.
I have written a Séadna.

Golden groves growing grey and gaunt,
wind and withered leaves take wing.
Silver streams are singing slowly,
clinging cold to everything.
Amber apples ache on branches,
falling free from fading trees.
Harvest home holds hutch and haven,
while the hush of hearth-fire frees.

Nancy’s Notes: I have tried my best to write this new and challenging Celtic poem. Willow tells us “Séadna is a four-line stanza (quatrain) where lines one & three have eight syllables and lines two & four have seven syllables, tied together with complex internal alliteration and end-rhymes.”
This is “Song for Autumn” by Old Blind Dogs
Everything on The Elephant’s Trunk was created by me, unless otherwise indicated, and may not be used without permission. Thanks for your consideration. NAR©2017-present.
Each poetic line was a joy to read, Nancy❣️
