Autumn arrived with golden breath, scattering a vibrant cornucopia of crisp leaves across the porch. She smiled, watching the amber sunset paint the hills… then she remembered all the raking that awaited her. She sighed, disheartened.

We’re in a wind tunnel here. We haven’t had to rake a leaf since we moved here. So nice.

I think it is ridiculous. I remember when we always started back the Wednesday after Labor Day. Here they get out in May. But back in August…I don’t know how the kids do it.

It’s stupid! We still follow the traditional schedule here. My grandkids return from camp next Friday and school starts Sept 8. Why mess with that?
