Written for Sunday Whirl Wordle.
Here are Brenda’s prompt words:
home ~ world ~ denied ~ bees ~ pleas ~ forgotten
folklore ~ wonder ~ strum ~ fallow ~ sigh ~ sky

In my backyard is a whole little world,
where fuzzy bees zoom with their wings all a-whirl.
“No flowers today?” they buzz with their pleas ….
but never denied, they land where they please!
They strum on the daisies like tiny guitars,
and dance under skies full of sunshine (not stars).
Grandma says folklore once told with a wonder:
bees hum secret songs like soft summer thunder.
Even the fallow patch, empty and bare,
gets buzzed by a bee who says “Grow something there!”
Not forgotten, not sad …. just resting a while,
till new flowers pop up and make the sun smile.
Then home go the bees, with a contented sigh,
tucked in their hive as stars fill the sky.

They strum on the daisies like tiny guitars” is such a delightful image, Nancy! And I love that even the fallow patch gets its own pep talk from a bee “Grow something there!” is oddly motivating. 😄 The rhythm carries the whole poem along like a little summer tune, and working in all those wordle words this smoothly is no small feat. Sweet and cheerful all the way through. 🐝🌻
