Donna had assumed her party would be the usual small get-together …. quiet and reserved, just a simple celebration with friends. So when music and noise filled her apartment and the guest list tripled itself, she started feeling rather smug. Her little gathering had become the place to be.

Then she heard another knock …. gentle, almost shy.

She opened the door and was surprised to see a handsome stranger carrying a cake box.

“This was delivered to my place by mistake,” he said, glancing up from his phone …. and then found himself unable to look away. “Don’t take this the wrong way, but I can see you becoming a major distraction.”

Donna arched one eyebrow, not unkind but cheeky enough to let him sweat for a second before she smiled. “Tell me ….. are you good at parties, or just at flirting with strangers on doorsteps?”

“Guess you’ll have to let me in and find out.”

She did …. and by midnight, the cake was gone and phone numbers were exchanged. Donna decided some deliveries were worth the mix-up.
