Written for SenHai Saturday where our host,
Susi asks us to write a senryu and haiku using
the image shown below as inspiration.

~ Senryu ~
everyone else wilts
waiting for the sun to show ….
not this stubborn bloom
⌘ ⌘⌘
~ Haiku ~
storm-gray skies press down ….
aloe spears hold their small fires,
unwilling to dim

This is “Rising Sun” by George Harrison
Everything on The Elephant’s Trunk was created by me unless indicated otherwise. Thank you for your consideration. NAR©2017–present.

Did you read that book ‘Little Fires Everywhere’ by Celeste Ng? First thing I thought of with your haiku.

My neighbor loaned it to me. There was a Netflix movie/series about it, but we don’t get Netflix The book was really good.

I like the image of the aloe spears holding fire and there’s nothing wrong with being a stubborn bloom- I think I’ve been accused of that a few times…

Such a hardy flower my friend … and a very apt song …
A Haiku for you …
“I watch the day age
Even the red cactus wilts
As the sun arcs high”
