Written for dVerse Poets Quadrille
Monday – “Swearing by all Flowers”
where our host, De Jackson, has offered
up the word “flowers”. Image courtesy

Beneath the thaw,
green spikes pierce winter’s veil.
Each flower bows its head,
a silent bell ringing in
the season.
Dormant earth remembers how
to wake,
how to offer tender witness;
proof that cold cannot
last forever,
that buried things will always
rise again.

I saw that New York finally got temperatures above freezing, but I guess it will take some time for all the snow to melt.

Yes, we did but there’s too much snow and the sun wasn’t shining today so it still felt cold …. nothing like the 4º we dropped to in January but cold enough. I think tomorrow will be nicer than today.
