to get creative with the word “captivating”.
Thanks, Heather! Here’s my musical take.

A Bull’s Lament
Listen, I’m not one for romantic moo-sings, but Bessie’s eyes? Beyond captivating. Those sapphire pools have me bewitched, bothered and bewildered. I would moove heaven and earth to be near her. Yesterday, I accidentally trampled the farmer’s prize petunias trying to impress her with my most dashing canter. She didn’t even glance up from her cud. I’ve totally lost my bovine mind. My buddies say I’m being udderly ridiculous, but they don’t understand. When she bats those baby blues, I’m nothing but a lovesick bull in a China shop of emotions. Send help. Or alfalfa.

This is sweet, Nancy. Poor bull. Besse is adorable. I had not heard this version of the song before. Can’t beat the old song–no way, no how. This is lovely.

Thanks, Lois! It was fun to write. Once in a while you’ll find a rock singer who records an album of standards; Ringo did it, so did Rod Stewart. I’m sure there have been many others. I was delighted to find Jeff Lynne’s album and I’m pleased to know you enjoyed his song.
