Wrist Update

Photo NAR

Hello, my friends! Thanks to all of you for your incredibly kind good wishes. You’re probably all chomping at the bit waiting for an update on my wrist. Too bad; I’m going to tell you anyway!

The repair was made to my ruptured finger tendon and approximately 1 cm was shaved off the ulna bone in my wrist. As you can see by the image above, I am currently in an extremely cumbersome and uncomfortable cast which feels like it weighs about 10 pounds. You may also be able to see bruising and discoloration on my arm where the cast ends near my elbow. That bruising is caused by the curvature of the cast which is rubbing into and against my skin. Perhaps a little more padding would have prevented bruising, but that’s just my opinion.

I’m in a good deal of pain and, because of the shaving of the tip of the ulna bone, my forearm feels like the bone is broken. However, the pain is less now than it was. On Wednesday I will have the cast removed and a smaller, more comfortable splint put on; the stitches will be removed next Monday.

Sorry about not commenting on some of your posts; it would be futile for me Β to try to play catch-up. I know you understand.

Thanks again!

Best always, Nancy

  1. Oh, Nancy. Yes, it looks painful. Wednesday cannot come quick enough, I am guessing. I hope the pain lessens each day and you can see the light at the end of the tunnel. Much love! ❀️
