Written for Sadje’s What Do You See #309.
Here’s where the photo prompt took me.

Chase and Pippa were thick as thieves …. at least that’s how it used to be before their parents split up. Now the young siblings, just 14 months apart, were living in an upside-down world.
Due to the divorce, the tots were separated, with Pippa living with their mother and Chase with their father. They missed each other terribly and didn’t understand why they weren’t living together in the same house. Their parents had a visitation arrangement where they could only spend the weekends together.
Every other Friday afternoon, Pippa would pack her little bag and wait by the window for her dad and Chase to pick her up for their weekend together. Chase would do the same when it was his turn to visit Pippa. They would run into each other’s arms, laughing and hugging tightly. They’d spend the weekends playing games and going on adventures …. all the while creating new memories.
The kids hated being apart and saying goodbye on Sunday afternoon was the worst. Every moment they spent together was special and they promised to always stay close, no matter what. And every weekend late at night in their bunk beds, little Chase and Pippa would conspire on ways to get their parents back together.

Divorce can be so cruel when the children are used as pawns.

It sounds like the plot for the movie Parent Trap.

Possibly in my subconscious. I haven’t seen that movie since it first came out. Hayley Mills as identical twins.

Thanks, Chris. It’s upsetting enough to go through a divorce; it’s got to be hell when kids are involved.
