Gerry & Sue’s Weekly Prompts Wednesday
Challenge (‘ragged’). This is my response.

Miss Daisy was a very forward-thinking little girl.
When her ragged stuffed bear grew too old to walk,
she took over control of the wagon.

I think toys deserve a dignified old age and appropriate burial when they’re no longer wanted. Something that brought so much joy to a kid deserves better than to be thrown in the garbage.

John, I love that idea! Our grandson Lucan will be 13 this May. His best buddy, Baby Froggy, was his constant companion. That poor frog was repaired so many times, he was barely hanging on. My DIL Dawn tried replacing him with another new Baby Froggy but Lucan wouldn’t go for it. Dawn would have to sneak him out of Lucan’s bed just to give him a washing! We never said anything about Lucan getting too old for Baby Froggy; he loved that damn frog with his whole heart and the thought of parting with him was heartbreaking. We just kept our fingers crossed he wouldn’t grow into adulthood and still be sleeping with Baby Froggy! At some point, maybe around age 9, Lucan decided to put Baby Froggy on the shelf …. literally. He now sits on the top shelf of Lucan’s bookcase, keeping an eye on things (I think in the end he only had one eye!) but he doesn’t come down anymore. He served Lucan well and I’m sure he’s still loved.

Thank you, Sue! Here’s to the women who aren’t afraid to take the wheel when necessary.
I enjoy your prompts very much and, whenever possible, I like to combine the two; they go quite nicely together.
