except for the tub; that’s mine.
In 1965, I was a teenager screaming my lungs out at a Beatles concert, and I’m not sure my heart has ever completely come down from that night. A few years later I found a guy who loved music as much as me and we rocked out together at more metal concerts than most people would guess from looking at us now as grandparents. Music has always been the thread running through our home: I play the piano, our kids and grandkids all picked up instruments, too, so family gatherings tend to be noisy and fun.
I love to drive and for most of our 54-year marriage, I’ve been the driver with my husband as my co-pilot …. just like everything in our life together.
You can often find me puttering around my many houseplants and typing away at my Mac, working on a new story or poem.
I’ve always felt things deeply, and a song can still bring me to tears as easily as it can make me want to dance. These days osteoarthritis makes my hands and joints rebel against me more than I ever expected, and some mornings it takes real stubbornness just to get moving; a nice long epsom salts soak helps, too. I’ve learned that pain needs to be respected but I won’t relinquish total control; I’d rather spend my energy on a good meal, a good laugh, and a good song. At 75, I’m still writing my story, and I like to think there are still some great chapters to come.

This is “In My Life” by The Beatles. Could there be any other song for me?
