Written for Living Poetry. Bartholomew
asks us to write a poem incorporating
a quote by Amelia Earhart. Also for
RDP and the word “momentous”.

Standing at the precipice of the cliff, the valley stretches out below like a quiet tapestry of mist and stone. Every gust of wind pulls at my jacket, a sharp reminder of the cold air waiting above. For months, this journey has lived only in theory …. a collection of maps, daydreams, and preparations. But the wind does not care for plans; it calls upward, demanding something momentous.
“The most difficult thing is the decision to act, the rest is merely tenacity.”
The first step into the abyss feels weightless, suspended between the earth and the open sky.
the heavy fog clears
a majestic hawk rides the wind
wings steady against the blue
