Written for Wea’ve Written Weekly.
Our PoW, Khadija, asks us to write
an anaphoric cinquain where at
least the first three lines of our
poems begin with the same word.

Dark night,
Dark shadows fall,
Dark secrets hide away,
Shining stars break through the still air,
Calm peace.
Soft wind,
Soft whispers breathe,
Soft summer days awake,
Green leaves dance upon the branches,
Sweet song.
Cold rain,
Cold winter tears,
Cold glaciers melt and fade,
Bright sunbeams warm up the deep earth,
New life.
High peaks,
High clouds above,
High mountains touching blue,
Swift hawks soar upon the wild wind,
Free flight.

Wonderful and quite amazing Nancy 😀 Is the pattern the same for every stanza

Thank you so much, Brian! And if by ‘pattern’ you mean the number of syllables per line …. yes, it is the same for every stanza: 2/4/6/8/2. I love writing a cinquain and find the end result extremely satisfying. ☺️

Beautiful and deeply touching. ❤️ The repetition gives the poem such emotional strength, and the tribute to a mother’s love is truly heartfelt.
