Nancy’s Notes: In the opera, this five-minute instrumental intermezzo plays between scenes in Act II. It represents the exact moment the title character …. Thaïs, an Egyptian courtesan devoted to a life of hedonism and vanity …. contemplates her mortality and decides to renounce her sins to follow a path of faith
This is “Meditation”, from “Thais” by Jules Massenet
