Written for Cinquain Poetry Prompt
where our inspiration is “tired”.
This is my cinquain.

So tired
bone-deep, soul-worn,
the kind sleep cannot cure,
carrying what no one else can
see there.
Day folds,
light growing thin,
the sky itself exhales,
even the sun surrenders to
the dark.
Sit down.
Let the quiet
settle ‘round your shoulders
like a blanket from you mother….
rest now.
Morning.
Something shifted.
The tired has gone somewhere.
You rise, not new, but more yourself
than before.

I know that kinda tired! It is horrible! A very nice poem! 💜💜

This was me yesterday- not so much tired but too fragmented to pay attention. Was I ever happy to wake up calm and focused this morning!

Renewal comes with a nap, if the night didn’t do full justice. 💤

I yawned half way through – not in a bad way of course!
Fab track.

I felt that tiredness at the beginning and the gradual comfort of the blanket and the rest, before waking. Lovely, Nancy.

As I was writing that verse about the blanket, I was reminded of all the Sundays in church sitting next to my mother and snuggling up against her fur coat. Thanks for your wonderful comments, Esther. 😌

A blanket from your mother symbolizes pure, unconditional love, care, and protection, because it is. a source of comfort, warmth, and security that feels like a lasting, gentle embrace.

Exactly right, my friend. Anyone who’s been lucky enough to experience that feeling will remember it always. Thank you, Jim.

I love this Nance – there’s a soft rhythm of release in this poem. It feels like a long, deep breath in written form – gentle, grounded, and very relatable 💕

I’m so glad you found this relatable, Ange. It is a very common and often overwhelming feeling, isn’t it? Thanks so much. 😌

That’s so nice! I enjoyed reading it. When one gets tired, they rest and/or take a nap. The next day, they’ll wake up feeling energized.
I love the last verse! 👍☺️
