Written for Living Poetry where our host,
Bartholomew asks us to write a poem
using the words ‘condition, ‘five’,
and ‘rapid’. Here’s my take.

The sky declared its condition clear,
Five bruised clouds gathered, dark and wide,
A rapid wind bent every stalk of grass,
And thunder rolled its warning deep inside.
The morning after hushed the world to calm,
No rapid pulse remained in leaf or air,
Five sparrows sang as if the storm had been
A condition met and answered with a prayer.

Brilliant, Nancy, I love the contrast between the two verses – and pictures!
Excellent track, I saw M&S live at an open air event a while a go – they were great!

Loving your descriptions, Nancy, … ‘bruised clouds’, …so perfect, … and I’m sure I can hear the sparrows, …singing in musical tune breaking through the hush of a world holding its breath, … 🎶Off to listen to the music 🎶….💙

Thank you for such lovely comments, dear Ivor, and a nice song by a group that reminds me a but of Fleetwood Mac. I have our friend Clive to thank for introducing me to Mumford & Sons. It’s a great song, isn’t it? 🥰🎶

I love this Nance – how you balance the violent energy of a storm against the fragile peace that follows – brilliant sense of symmetry and resolution 🙌
