Written for MLMM Monday Wordle;
these are our prompt words:
biscuit, passed, duke, found, slight, princess,
curved, sheet, alone, downhill, happy, companion

Duke, the bloodhound, woke to a slight breeze rattling the barn door. Beside him, Princess, the calico cat, stretched and yawned, ready for whatever the day held. They were an unlikely pair, but had been each other’s best companion for years.
“I smell something undeniably delicious,” Duke said, nose twitching hungrily. “Biscuits! Princess! Wake up! I can smell Mrs. Farmer’s fresh baked biscuits!”
Princess leapt onto a bale of hay to get a better view. Below them, a thin sheet of morning fog curved along the path down by the creek and the old apple orchard.
“You’re right, Duke! And someone’s gotten into them. There’s a trail of biscuit crumbs and it’s going downhill!” Princess declared. “Toward the creek.”
“I think this calls for some investigating” Duke suggested, his hunter’s nose now sniffing the ground.
They set off together, tracking every crumb. The path wound sharply past a fallen log, and Duke nearly lost the scent. They were about to start searching alone, splitting up to cover more ground, when Princess found the answer to the curious trail of crumbs. There, drinking thirstily from the creek, was Tilly, the goat. Under an apple tree sat one solitary biscuit, whole, untouched, and looking very tempting.
“Luckily for us, it looks like Tilly’s had her fill” declared Princess, happy at this new development.
Princess and Duke merrily shared Tilly’s leftover biscuit, gobbling up all the crumbs that had scattered in the grass. And just in time, too, as Mrs. Farmer came ‘round the bend with an empty biscuit tin, yelling for Tilly, the biscuit thief!
