Written for RDP, where Martha asks us
to get creative with the word “celebrations”.
Thanks, Martha! Here’s where the prompt took me.

For the shortest month of the year, February has four birthday celebrations for my family, and they’re all clustered around the last week.
My mother’s birthday is the 21st, and although she’s been gone for 17 years, we always remember her with a little extra sweetness on that day.
My sister and I share a birthday on the 27th …. a fact that has been a sore spot for us all our lives. We always wished we had separate birthdays, especially when it came to presents. When we were kids, some people thought it was cute to give us one gift and say it was for the both of us. That never works out well. I’ll always remember the year I turned 10 and my sister turned 14 and someone gave us a diary to share! My sister ended up with the diary as it was determined I was “too young for that sort of thing”. This year I’ll be celebrating a rather impressive birthday and I’m a bit awed by it.
Bringing up the rear is our granddaughter Colette’s birthday on the 28th. This year she’ll be six and she doesn’t know it yet but her parents have planned a trip to Disney World, including a visit to the Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique and dinner with Cinderella …. every aspiring princess’ dream. It really would have been something had Colette had been born on my birthday but, for her sake, I’m glad she wasn’t.
Happy Birthday to you if you’re a February baby!

I just read that a magical day for one child at Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique ($100–$230+) and dinner at Cinderella’s Royal Table (approx. $90 adult/$55 child) typically costs between $190 and $350+ per person, plus tax and tip. I hope you enjoy your special day, Nancy and that princess Collette has a wonderful birthday also.

Your research is correct as always, Jim. And guess who’s treating Colette and her parents on that special day. 😁
It’s all about the thrill and the memories!

I’m not doing anything special for this birthday and my family knows better than to plan surprises. Not a big fan!

Happy Birthday to you! But sharing the same date with your sister–not fun at all. And sharing a diary?! Craziness! What was someone thinking??

Not thinking! My sister said someone also gave us one pair of ice skates but I don’t remember that at all! 🤯

If she had been born on your birthday, you might have to share a present, like a slinky.

Bill said the same thing …. what will they do when she turns 16? She’s their only child so I just let them be.

That is a lot of birthdays! You and your sister share a birthday- and your husband and his brother shared one too. Seems like there should be some kind of hidden meaning to that- but I have no idea what it might be.

That connection thing didn’t get by us, either. Who knows?

Happy almost birthday! LOL It’s a bummer you had to share a bday with your sister. And someone gave you a diary to share? How did they think that would work out? LOL

The operative word here is “think”, Kymber. I’m not sure they did even that much. Thanks!
