One day, the rain stopped and the courtyard finally dried. We dragged the heavy wooden table outside, eager to break our long confinement. Dining alfresco with family under the bruised evening sky tasted like pure freedom, a fragile reminder of the vibrant world waiting just beyond our heavy oak door.
