Today at RDP, Martha Kennedy asks us to get
creative with the word ‘raucous’. Thanks, Martha!
Here’s where the prompt word took me.

Rattling jackhammers shatter the dawn’s quiet grace
Alarming the neighbors who once loved this place
Unbearable drilling from houses one, two, and three
Cacophony drowning out their morning coffee
Orange-vested workers arrive with the sun
Uprooting the peace they had carefully won
Serenity obliterated on their sweet little street

A wonderful acrostic poem with a good rhythm! Well done, Nancy 👏👏👏

Thank you, KK. An acrostic seemed to work well for this recounting.

A very clever response to the prompt, and a great song and video to accompany it 👍

Thanks, Clive. I’m glad you enjoyed the story. This is happening on our little cul-de-sac right now ….. two houses being remodeled and one new house going up. It’s noisy!

That’s progress, I guess. I hope it isn’t too unbearable for you.

At least there isn’t any jackhammering. That would give me a headache for sure!

Great minds Nancy – I thought the word called out for an acrostic 😄 – love your take on it and Madness just adds to the fun I love them 🙌

Ange, I’ve been out all day and just getting around to checking in. I’ll pop over to check out your post after dinner. I’m glad to know you enjoyed my acrostic today.

We had our raucous this summer in pretty much the same manner. A highly unusual development in our development…someone adding on rooms to their house. Weeks of “fun!”

And we are in the midst of it. Who builds in the winter? I hope they finish up before we get snow. What a mess that will be! Hopefully you’re back to normal in your development.

Great song – and you highlight the noise so well in your acrostic.

Thanks very much, Esther. Doing an acrostic just seemed to work with this word.

I have not listened to this classic in a while, and it was nice hearing it again.

How irritating it is when people decide to renovate their homes and causing a chaos.

We’re not loving it, that’s for sure, Sadje. Thanks for your thoughts.

Our neighbors on one side have always something going on in their house- repairs and renovations. It’s a constant source of noise.

What a shame! That has to be very annoying.

We have gotten used to it. But yes, it is annoying, especially in winter when the fans are off and the noise echoes.

I don’t suppose it ever gets cold enough for earmuffs in your area! 🎧

Not in the city I live in. But in the north, it does.
