RDP Friday: raucous

Today at RDP, Martha Kennedy asks us to get
creative with the word ‘raucous’. Thanks, Martha!
Here’s where the prompt word took me.

Rattling jackhammers shatter the dawn’s quiet grace
Alarming the neighbors who once loved this place
Unbearable drilling from houses one, two, and three
Cacophony drowning out their morning coffee
Orange-vested workers arrive with the sun
Uprooting the peace they had carefully won
Serenity obliterated on their sweet little street
