Autumn Comes

October Light Fantastic

asks us to write about what October
means to us. Here’s my contribution.

In October’s golden light, the sun hangs low,
Casting shadows long, with a gentle glow.
Pumpkin pie aroma fills the air,
A taste of autumn, beyond compare.

Halloween whispers in the rustling leaves,
A time for treats, and tricks that deceive.
The scent of bonfires, evenings crisp and cool,
Chocolatey marshmallows; oh, how we drool!

October’s beauty, a vision to behold,
A tapestry of colors, red and gold.
In every sight and sound, we find delight,
Did you hear the owl hooting last night?

  1. I love the cool song and video and the lovely sights and smells of your poem. You reminded me of one Halloween when a pint sized granddaughter said, “If they don’t have the treats, they’re gonna get the tricks!” I about died laughing!

  2. Like October’s light itself, your lines are light and golden, filling with pleasure and delight. I agree with Bjorn: you made me appreciate October more, Nancy! 🙂
