Written for dVerse Poetics: Tripping The
October Light Fantastic. Our host, Dora,
asks us to write about what October
means to us. Here’s my contribution.

In October’s golden light, the sun hangs low,
Casting shadows long, with a gentle glow.
Pumpkin pie aroma fills the air,
A taste of autumn, beyond compare.
Halloween whispers in the rustling leaves,
A time for treats, and tricks that deceive.
The scent of bonfires, evenings crisp and cool,
Chocolatey marshmallows; oh, how we drool!
October’s beauty, a vision to behold,
A tapestry of colors, red and gold.
In every sight and sound, we find delight,
Did you hear the owl hooting last night?

I love the cool song and video and the lovely sights and smells of your poem. You reminded me of one Halloween when a pint sized granddaughter said, “If they don’t have the treats, they’re gonna get the tricks!” I about died laughing!

That’s hilarious, Lisa! Halloween’s a big deal for the kids and they really mean business. Don’t mess with the treats! 🎃
Thanks for sharing.

The gorgeous “Autumn Leaves” always makes me somewhat melancholy. I love Clapton’s bluesy, laid-back version. Good listening, dear friend. 🎶🍂
