Written for Cinquain Poetry Prompt #16
where our inspiration word is “believe”.
Also written for dVerse Poets MTB:
Cinquains Revisited. I have written a
Mirror Cinquain, a 10-line, single stanza poem
with a syllable pattern of 2–4–6–8–2–8–6–4–2.

Whispers,
where rivers swell
with secrets they believe.
Warm winds hum tunes through trembling leaves.
The moon
dances with its own reflection.
Stars blink awake with hope.
Lovers embrace.
Hearts skip.

Love the mirroring with the moon as the line of symmetry. Cool.

The two songs supported the work so well. Moonlight does wonders for the psyche..

Thanks so much, Esther. That line was one I changed during an edit; I’m very pleased I did.

My daughter chose this for her first dance at her wedding. They took ballroom dance classes, and did a lovely foxtrot!

Nicely done, Nancy, and I love the way you stretched out the eight-syllable line ‘Warm winds hum tunes through trembling leaves’, and the image of the moon dancing with its own reflection, accompanied by Van the man, no less!
