The story behind “Something” was that they needed something they could sell because they needed money and Paul was too busy trying to turn “Maxwell’s Silver Hammer” into a hit. John felt it was a beautiful song, and for John to pay George that kind of a compliment really meant a lot.

I guess George showed them! Great backstory, John.

I got confused again 🙂 I know there’s two from Abbey Road and the one from Willow is on ‘The White Album’

Both great songs. I’ve always thought Something was deeply moving- I mean who wouldn’t want a liver to talk about you that way?

Exactly. It’s such a poignant, romantic song.

Two great songs. And in my humble opinion, taken as a whole, Abbey Road is the best Beatles album and possibly the best album ever.

If not THE best, certainly right up there. My choice for best Beatle album is the one I’m listening to at any given moment! That’s just the way it is with the Beatles. Abbey Road for sure never disappoints. Thanks, Fan.

Hard to believe it’s been decades and these songs still feel timeless. George’s genius truly shines on Abbey Road — thanks for the reminder to revisit this beauty! 🌿🎸

It’s always a pleasure for me to share Beatles music in general, George’s music in particular. I’m delighted knowing that George finally was recognized as the great artist he was. Everything you said about the sound of these songs is true. They’re timeless. Thank you for stopping by and leaving a great message.

I agree, dear Ivor! This is one of the best recordings from Concert for George. I cry every time Joe Brown plays I’ll See You In My Dreams at the end of the concert. Thank you! ♡🎶♡

I love both of these songs, Nancy, and consider them standouts on “Abbey Road.” In addition, “Something” has one of the best basslines by Paul McCartney. Many moons ago, my guitar teacher taught me a great acoustic/classical guitar arrangement of “Here Comes the Sun” he came up with. Unfortunately, I think I forgot most of it. It’s probably my favorite George Harrison song he recorded with The Beatles.

They are both gorgeous and I have to agree about the bass line. I’m partial to Something; it was the first dance for bride & groom at our wedding reception all those years ago.

Can’t beat a first dance and all the memories attached to it. 🙂
In my case it was Bette Midler’s beautiful rendition of “Wings Beneath My Wings.”
