Written for Only Murders In My Mind
Weekly Writing Prompt #53. This week’s
inspiration is the photo seen below.

White clouds in the sky aglow,
Branches where no leaves will grow,
Dry, cracked dirt below,
Nature’s tale, silent and slow.
Cracked earth whispers sorrowed sigh,
Clouds drift, bird’s distant cry,
A dead tree stands alone and dry
Beneath the bright blue sky.

Were you in my neck of the woods today? Teasing! Summer came to soon, reaching 100 degrees today. Ugh! I love your poem. 💙

Ooh, no! That’s too much way too soon. Hopefully it was just a one off and things will return to normal. Thanks, Michele. Off to bed now. 😴

I can vouch for California, it’s sunny and warm here this week! 😊

Lucky us, no snow in our part of the state, and normal avg temps for the weekend. A little rain and a splash of sun, too, and the lawn’s pushing out green thru the yellowed winter thatch. Great music choice and video, too. Was that Jimi Hendrix I saw?

Yes, it was Jimi! This was a new video for me and I was stoked to find it. I’m glad you enjoyed it, Liz. 😁
It’s slowing starting to warm up here but still gusty cold winds and grey skies today and tomorrow. Bill’s chomping at the bit (or is it bait?) to go fishing soon but the boat isn’t even in the water yet! That’s a long way to cast from dry dock! 😂 I remember getting snow on Easter years ago! The weather has always been changeable, although it’s obviously worse now; we can’t keep messing with Mother Nature! 🌬️
Thanks, Liz!

I’m damn skippy California Dreaming. The ground is white here this morning with temps in the 30’s, where’s this spring thing everyone is talking about?

Damned if I know! We don’t have any of the white stuff but it’s cold, grey and windy.

That’s yesterdays weather here, last night it started that dreadful white blanket sharing.

Thank you, D. The photo was the prompt so I can’t take credit for that but it certainly was inspiring. We need some warm sunshine!

It’s a bit too warm here for snow but not a nice looking day. And I’ve got a whopper of a headache!

Chilling. Good word choice! What’s your weather like, Destiny? I am so tired of gusty wintery winds and cold temps! I suppose it’s showing in this poem. Where the hell is Spring? 🤷🏼♀️ 🥶
