Our gracious host, Rochelle, at Friday Fictioneers
asks us to use the photo below as inspiration
to write creatively in 100 words or less while
making every word count. This is my flash.

Ted and Marcy recently moved into their new home. They were anxious to fix up the split-level on a quiet cul-de-sac.
The couple loved the retro look of the house but the wallpaper in the bedroom had to go. Ted googled how to remove wallpaper and they began their work.
After a while, the section Marcy was working on started to fall away, revealing a lovely painting.
“Look at this, Ted. It’s our house!”
“What the…! Those are our cars on the driveway!”
“But that’s not possible, Ted. We just moved in!”
“I’ve got a bad feeling about this, Marcy.”

I bet that was the moment it started pouring with rain! Wonderfully weird!

I wanted to mention the rain but I used up all my words!
Thanks, Keith.

A painting of their house! It seems very nice, except for the bit that’s exceptionally creepy. This needs a part two.

It is exceptionally creepy, isn’t it? Quite a compliment coming from you! Thank you!

I can see it now: ” The Haunting of Marcy.” A ghost painter, leaving his work on the walls of the house during the night. Nice song, Nash wrote it about Joni Mitchell when they were shacked up in Laural Canyon.

Ah, yes! Nothing like a little gaslighting to put someone over the edge. Very Charles Boyer.
Yep, Joni and her two cats.

An eerie little story. And the music with that title was always going to be a choice between CSN&Y or Madness, as Willow has demonstrated!

Thanks, Clive! I’m still in my CSN&(sometimes)Y frame of mind! 😂

I prefer that one too. Madness were fun, but not in the same league as CSN&Y!

Maybe they should have “Knocked Three Times” before buying that house. Don’t ask me why I thought of that song. But I did. 😉

Don’t ask me either but I thought it was funny! 😂

Heres a very English Our House… Yours is definitely the better fit though for your story.

This is a fun song, no doubt, and I did think of it but eventually passed it up for CSN&Y.
Thanks for spreading the Madness, Willow! 🤣🤎
