Written for Weekend Writing Prompt #375,
Weekly Prompts Colour Challenge and
Weekly Prompts Wednesday Challenge,
31 words exactly using the three prompt words
of defray, brown and rigid. Here is my flash.

Mary went rigid and her soft brown eyes filled with tears when she saw the orthodontist’s bill. With no dental insurance, she’d have to find some way to defray the expense.

There is a Hindi saying, , गागर में सागर, which literally means an ocean in a lot, i.e. saying a lot in a few words. This post is one such example. Well done, Nancy!

An ocean in a lot=pot.

Thank you, KK. These short prompts are the most challenging but I enjoy a good challenge!

😢 Fiction yet a medical necessity deemed as a luxury item is all too true.

Thanks! These short ones are a real challenge. Having those other two words to play around with helped me out.

I prefer the short ones! I am not a fan of merging challenges, though I have done so now and again, when I feel they can work. Some really go over the top mixing a whole bunch! Sometimes it works, others, not so much.

Yeah, I hear ya. I’m dropping some groups I belong to. I have a medical thing going on and it’s difficult to keep up. I really don’t have the ambition to do the crazy long prompts like ‘6 sentence’ anymore although they’re only as long as I make them. They used to be fun but not so much now and groups can get cliquey. Something’s gotta go.

I hope it’s not too serious. 💞
The important thing is to find what works for YOU. I can’t post every day (nor do I want to). And I participate or not, if I want to. I go with my own flow.

My husband keeps telling me to let go of the “sense of responsibility” to my readers and that very few care about the work I put into my writing. He’s prob right. 😁

He’s not wrong. I don’t doubt your readers don’t appreciate what you write (I definitely do) but I doubt they are saying “Oh, Nancy only posted six times today instead of ten!” 😉😂🤣

Thank you, Selma. It’s a real test, isn’t it? Believe it or not, I typed out the words that were in my head and they came out to 31 on the button! 😲
