We are to write a story
of 250 words or less;
this is my story.

“Hold it right there, Everett! I’ll not be fooled again by the likes of you! My own twin brother! Who ever thought it would come to this? You always hated me, didn’t you, Everett? Even as a child you were a malicious, jealous little bastard, like the day you started the fire in the gatehouse. You knew I’d be nearby working the horses and the first to see the smoke. And what happened? I got blamed for the fire! Everything I ever had, you wanted. You stole my darling Clarissa just weeks before we were to be married, then you forced yourself on her, all the while pretending you were me. She could never forgive me. She left town, a bitter, broken woman. My reputation was ruined and the only woman I ever loved was gone because of you. Now it’s down to our inheritance. You just couldn’t be satisfied with half, could you? You had to have it all. You think I don’t know it was you who took a shot at me the day we were out hunting with Father and Uncle Wyatt? Good thing for me you missed your mark that day. Well, I’ll not miss mine, you rotten, scheming son of a bitch. That’s right, this is the end, brother. I’m going to enjoy watching you beg for mercy. Good riddance, Everett. See you in hell.”
“And …. Cut! Great job as always, Bobby. That’s a wrap. This one’s got “Academy Award” written all over it!”

Thanks, CA. I couldn’t recall which one this was by the title alone. Now I remember writing this one; it was fun! Thanks for reading.

I can just imagine Everett quaking at the other end of that pointing finger. The movie will be a hit for sure. 🙂 (Good twist). And thanks for the video also. Incredible.

That video was a real find; I had to use it.
Thanks for your great comments, Margaret.
I’m glad you liked the twist!

imo movies (film) and blogposts are a match made in heaven… one is (mostly) interior, i.e. subjective, the other primarily big and objective
they don’t (or, at least, didn’t) refer to them as horse operas for nothin’

And let’s not forget La Fanciulla del West which really is a horse opera.

Love the video!! It’s a brilliant song anyway, but that’s just a treat to see and hear.

Well really …. how could you not? As soon as I saw ‘Danish Symphony Orchestra’ I said to myself “Misky’s gonna love this” …. and I was right!
Thanks, sis.

I was thrown by the ending and on the re-read I couldn’t help hearing some hammy actor (maybe Charlton Heston) saying Bobby’s lines. Is Bobby supposed to be a real actor that I’m not catching? I loved the video. Morricone is one of my favorite movie composers and it’s because of this song that I’ve had an ocarina in my Amazon shopping cart for a long time. Now I’m thinking I should get it.

I thought if I changed the font at the end it would be clear that someone else was talking. Bobby represents any western actor you want him to be …. John Wayne, Jimmy Stewart, even Charlton Heston. It’s all up to your imagination.
Morricone has done some incredible work; his Godfather Orchestral Suite, again with the Danish Symphony Orchestra, is magnificent.
Go for the ocarina; it’s not doing any good sitting in your Amazon cart!

Me too! Our cable provided has a couple of stations that show nothing but old westerns. It’s great fun!

I love this, Nancy! I was not expecting it to be a scene in a movie/play. And this version of The Good, The Bad and The Ugly is the besterest!

Great, Dale! Thanks so much! I was keeping my fingers crossed that it wouldn’t fall short; I’m glad people are getting the twist and digging the story. It was great fun for me.
Isn’t that orchestra amazing? I could have gone with the 3 minute video and a still shot of Clint Eastwood but how boring would that have been? 😂

It didn’t come close to falling short. And yeah. The orchestra is amazing and boring is not your style. 😉
