“These aren’t hydrangeas, Bessy. They’re snowball bushes.”
“No, they are not! They’re hydrangeas, Ben. Don’t you remember we had snowball bushes in the backyard of our first house? These are not them!”
“Yes, of course I remember having snowball bushes in our backyard and they looked just like this! I also remember we have a roast beef in the oven right now and if we don’t get home and take it out, it’s gonna be pot roast!”
“Merciful heavens! My roast beef! I forgot all about it! We’ll come back tomorrow to admire the hydrangeas.”

A Note: When Bill & I were newlyweds, we invited his parents to our house for dinner for the first time. Wanting to impress, I made roast beef but, being a relatively new cook, I overcooked it. During dinner my father-in-law declared it was βthe most tender pot roastβ heβd ever eaten! I shot Bill a look warning him not to say a word about the overcooked roast beef and my inlaws were never the wiser. π
Sweet as sweet can be. I adore oldies who have been together forever, and I remember that that’s me and Peder! LOL

Ahh, such a true-to-life sweet story. I loved the Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers video clip! It made me wonder how many film takes before they hit perfection in that skating/dance routine.

Thank you, Manette! They were quite a pair, Fred & Ginger! They made every dance step look easy and effortless, like they were floating on clouds. I wish we had more dancers with marvelous routines these days!
Thanks so much for your lovely comments!

I do wish we had more dance routines like some of the old classics. Kids don’t know what they’re missing.

It happens again and again, doesn’t it? I hope they salvaged the roast beef!

Yes it does! No worries, D! When life gives us overcooked roast beef, just dress it up and call it pot roast! π

Aren’t they divine? They look like soft, welcoming pillows and I want to jump in, surrounding myself with their delicate fragrance.

Thanks, dear Keith! Don’t ask why that memory came back to life!
