slow pace
up a pink stem
carrying a brown home
deep purple body stretched out wide
climbing
ascend
reaching for the delicate buds
perched high in garden green
spiral shell moves
so slow

  1. I didn’t know ‘Steve the Snail’ was on the loose over there, be gentle with him, he’ll bet jet lagged and in need of an Aussie beer – preferably a crispy Great Northern (Mid-strength) my friend

  2. Nancy, what a clever use of the mirror cinquain! The form perfectly echoes the slowness, the deliberate pace of a snail. There’s something meditative about watching it unfold, then mirror back, time moving both forward and backward at once. Beautifully crafted. 🐚💚

  3. Nancy, this is delightful! 🐌🌸

I love how the shape and rhythm of the poem seem to move at the snail’s own pace slow, steady, and determined.

There’s something beautiful about the reminder that we don’t always have to rush. Sometimes the journey is meant to be enjoyed one small climb at a time.

And “Feelin’ Groovy” is the perfect finishing touch! 🎶❤️
