the golden canopy shakes
revealing bare wood.

  1. A gorgeous and crisp haiku to kick off Val’s scavenger hunt, Nancy! You captured the essence of the season so beautifully—that shift in the final line from golden canopy to bare wood was such a perfect ‘turn.’ I smiled reading murisopsis’s comment about how well this described her chilly dog walk! Also, your banter with Clive over Fleetwood Mac’s ‘Bare Trees’ gave me a laugh—it’s always fun when a song choice leads to a music trivia debate. Thanks for setting such a lovely autumn mood! PS: My exposure to music was monotonic in my earlier days but now I’ve seen and listened a lot.
