  2. There really is something so magical about how deer can slip into a garden completely unheard! As lisaapaul and J-Dub noted in the comments, that ‘stealth’ silence gives off such sweet Bambi vibes. Such a tranquil and lovely haiku, Nancy!

  3. Nice one Nancy. I’ve never been hunting in my life…I just can’t do it. I always wanted to see Montauk, I’ve heard Dick Cavett talk about it because him and his wife lived there.

    1. We go fishing; that’s enough. I could never hunt either. We loved going out to Montauk for 35 summers. It was heavenly before covid, then the ‘city folk’ took over and it’s all different now. A lot of celebrities live on the East End and the best way to see their houses and property is from a boat on the ocean. We were renting a place near Dick Cavett’s and couldn’t even get near it.

      1. Same with us… I just can’t do it.
        He talked about him and his then wife renovating the house back in the 70s I believe. I’m a huge Cavett fan of his old show.
        It’s unreal how covid changed everything…every single thing. I know exactly what you mean…that is crazy.

        1. And we all use covid as a reference point. I swear, Max …. I never thought I’d see anything like that in my lifetime.

          I only recently learned Cavett acted in a few plays early in his career; I’ve only seen him on his show which I also enjoyed. I’m sure you’ve see the one with George Harrison. Lennon & Yoko Ono were also on at some point. George was delightful.

            Yes…when I was a small kid I remember Cavett being on ABC…I was too young to catch on but I do remember him. He is an intelligent guy…I think he went to Yale…he wrote for the Tonight Show…who was that guy? Dang Nancy…I’m losing it…I had to look him up…Jack Paar. Cavett also wrote for Carson later on before his show. I love when Janis Joplin is on there…her and Cavett dated a little bit from what I read. Hard to imagine that.

            1. I was pretty young but I remember Jack Paar. In a book about him …. “Jack Paar: As I Was Saying”, there’s a hilarious story about the “WC” which I believe got him in a fair amount of trouble with the network. Paar was amazing and I can see that Cavett must have idolized him.

              No, I cannot imaging Dick Cavett and Janis together!

              1. That is funny about the WC….I just read about it.
                I know…Cavett and Joplin…just doesn’t compute. He did tell Joplin at lunch…”you cannot do that song called Down On Me” on national television.” Joplin looked and him and smiled and said…Dick…it’s a gospel song. lol….and it is! He had no clue.
                I might check out that Paar book.
