Written for dVerse Quadrille –
“X Marks the Spot”. Our host,
Melissa, invites us to write a
quadrille with the word ”xenolith”.

Night opens it’s quiet hands,
scattering stars across my doubt.
I carry a xenolith inside,
something ancient,
foreign, unbroken.
Morning finds me listening
to rivers beneath the pavement,
wondering whether belonging
means staying or simply
being held
while everything else
becomes a new
tomorrow.

This was such a good poem . ” whether belonging

Sometimes, on bad days, I remind myself that it’s possible to start fresh again tomorrow.
