Our gracious host, Rochelle, is asking us to get
creative in 100 words or less using the photo
seen below. Welcome to Friday Fictioneers.

Sergeant Garcia marched down the side corridor, keys jangling triumphantly on his belt.
“Every cell locked tight!” he announced to himself, puffing out his chest. But out of sight behind him, the doors hung wide open, silently mocking him.
Suddenly, a masked shadow stealthily slipped past, leaving a “Z” scratched into the stone floor.
“The prisoners sleep soundly tonight,” Garcia declared, patting his sword. He paused at the empty lantern-lit hall, frowning. “Strange… it echoes more than usual.”
Chuckling softly, Zorro tipped his hat to the empty cells and vanished into the moonlight, leaving Garcia alone with his only keys.

Querida Nancy,
What a delightful hark back to Zorro. Guy Williams was the best. Thanks for the treck down memory lane. ¡Que divertido!

Dear Rochelle, I’m so pleased to know you enjoyed my little homage to Zorro. Guy Williams’ parents were born in Sicily, as was my dad; he was so proud of that fact and we never missed an episode of Zorro. Thanks for your fun comments.

In my mind’s eye I am visualizing fat Sergeant Garcia being bested yet again by the agile and speedy Zorro. Excellent take, Nancy.

I have always admired Zorro, and I used to pretend I was making Z’s with my sword when I was little.

Didn’t we all? This was a great show during a time of innocence for our generation. My dad took great pride in watching the show as Guy Williams’ (Zorro) parents were from Sicily.

This was so much fun to write, my dear friend! “Zorro” was practically required viewing in my house when I was a child. The actor who played Zorro, Guy Williams, was born Armando Catalano. He was of Sicilian descent and my father, being a very proud Sicilian, made sure we didn’t miss an episode. Thanks for this wonderful reminder from bygone days. 🥰

I used to look forward to Zorro on the TV, those days have gone, when I was a boy. Great adventures of moral courage.
