Written for Living Poetry where
our inspiration is “Born in the…”

I came into the world eleven floors up,
sirens for a lullaby,
the whole city humming through the window glass
like it already knew my name.
Manhattan didn’t rock me gentle….
it clattered, it honked, it never once went quiet,
and somewhere below, a thousand strangers
were already late for something.
They say you can’t take the island out of the kid ….
it’s in the walk, the impatience at red lights,
the way I expect Manhattan to be this loud,
this lit, this wide awake at 3 a.m.
And The City never disappoints.

A good example why I don’t like cities thanks Nancy

You live in heaven on earth, Brian. Cities are not for everyone, that’s for sure.

I think everyone should visit NY once in their lives, Liz. There’s no place like it. 🌆
