Written for Sadje’s What Do You See

Quarter past eight ….
the hands spread wide, open-armed,
as if greeting the new night.
Warm light climbs the wall,
a slow unburdening of sins
while the room holds its breath.
Evening shadows know
what the clock face won’t say:
these hours are not meant to be rushed.

I really like the way you’ve looked at his prompt:
Quarter past eight ….
the hands spread wide, open-armed,
as if greeting the new night.
Wonderful.

The hands of time
do not rhyme
nor do they chime.
Silence is their crime –
a life sentence in mime …

The dichotomy between this image and the magical stopwatch in a recent prompt from Sarah and Rohini immediately came to mind. Thanks for your wonderful comments, Ange!
