Kousa Dogwood: A Shadorma

Written for Tanka Tuesday where Robbie
asks us to write a syllabic poem about trees.
Here’s where the prompt took me.

Kousa Dogwood Blossoms
My Tree, My Pic

petals blush
white hearts push outward…
spring does not
seek consent
it simply opens, and the
whole world sips rosé

Nancy’s Notes: Originally from Spain, shadorma is a short, unrhymed six-line poem (a sestet) characterized by a strict 3/5/3/3/7/5 syllable structure.

This is “Underneath The Dogwood Tree” by Train

Everything on The Elephant’s Trunk was created by me, unless otherwise indicated. Thanks for your consideration. NAR©2017-present.
