Written for Living Poetry where
Bartholomew has shared this
sunset image for inspiration.
Here’s where the prompt took me.

The sun leans down
to touch the lake
and the lake lets it.
Boats wait the way boats do…
patient, unhurried…
going nowhere for now.
Reeds blur
at the edges.
The light does too.
This is the hour
that gives it all back,
doubled and shimmering
